| The aim of the Taliesin Trust is to enable all those who would benefit from a writing course at Tŷ Newydd to do so. A bursary fund has therefore been set up to give financial help to those who would be unable to afford the full course fee. The fund is limited and there is no guarantee that everyone who applies will receive a bursary. It is recognised that being unemployed, on income support or being a full-time student are not the only reasons for not being able to afford the full fees. We would be grateful therefore, if you do not come under one of these headings, if you would explain briefly your circumstances and the reasons for your application for a bursary. This can be done below or in a separate letter. We would also like to know why the course you have applied for would be of particular benefit to you.
We ask you to be honest about the amount of bursary money that you need. The more you take, the less there is for other people. We are always happy to make arrangements for people to pay in instalments, if this helps. Arrangements should be made with Awen Hamilton at Tŷ Newydd. THE FLAMINGOS BURSARY was set up in memory of Gail Hughes, short story writer, who was for many years on the Board of Management of the Taliesin Trust. Details from Tŷ Newydd. THE A. G. PRYS-JONES BURSARY FUND was set up in memory of the writer by members of his family. The Fund provides a number of bursaries every year for young Welsh people to attend courses at Tŷ Newydd.
