Activities were arranged in the afternoon for all the family on Lloyd George’s Day. Around 150 visitors came to the event at Tŷ Newydd which was held on Saturday, May 16th. Frances Voelcker, the architect for Ty Newydd gave an interesting presentation on the architecture and a guided tour of the house which was Lloyd George’s last home. Later in the afternoon the audience were entertained by pupils from Cae Top, Llanystumdwy and Chwilog primary schools.
Pupils from Cae Top, Bangor Primary School performed a folk song which they composed and performed with the local bard, Twm Morys. This was following the workshop at Ty Newydd in March as part of an ongoing European e-twinning project. Llanystumdwy school pupils gave a different and an interesting reading of their own myths, legends and stories based on the Lôn Goed in Eifionydd. This was following a recent school visit to Lôn Goed at the beginning of May, and a day workshop with Mair Tomos Ifans. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the traditional clog dances by a talented group of young dancers from Chwilog Primary School to finish.
